The wedding at Dodgers Stadium:

The stands are filled with only the die hard fans, decked out in the latest pro gear of their favorite team. They wave ESPN signs with witty remarks, and slogans. The air is so hot and is as coarse as the in-field warning track. The grass is crisp and green with not a blade out of place. But today it isn’t about innings, or strikes at the ball park. It is about Brenda and Bobby saying “I will” for the rest of their lives.

This is one of my favorite weddings… I wanted to do a blog post with some images that weren’t up on the previous post.

Here is some more back story, I have been an associate photographer for Scott Nelson photography for several years. Scott has been so good to me and supported me through out, and helping me grow as a photographer. When he had the opportunity to meet with a family getting married at Dodgers Stadium, he thought of me immediately. It was the best news when I was asked to help Scott capture the moments of the day with him.

It is so funny when you compare this location to other venues.

Example: CEREMONY CAPACITY: The site holds 56,000 seated outdoors. (awesome, but that is a lot of party favors)

The bride walks down an isle of retired jerseys from Baseball’s past and waits in front of a Kirk Gibson photo before heading out to the stadium grass.

With sweaty palms and a dewy brow he steps up to home plate. In the faint distance there is a melody on acoustic guitar of “Take me out to the Ballgame,” and a breeze lightens the heavy air. She walks up the stairs and out from the tunnel as he slowly breathes in the moment when he sees her, and today he considers himself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.

The ceremony. Brenda and Bobby are non-traditional, family orientated and absolutely in love (with baseball and each other).
The officiant mentions that this is a “slightly” un-traditional wedding, as the bride and groom smile at the stands and their 40 guests. The kiss! Mwah!

In this moment, after the kiss, the groom made a beautiful toast to his bride, he said “He was the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.” I think Lou Gehrig would agree. And then he gave her this passionate kiss that would last a lifetime.

It was my honor and responsibility as an avid Dodgers fan to be a part of this beautiful day. I have been a true Los Angeles Dodgers fan since the age of 6, when I went to my first Pirates game and got a stomach ache from all the delicious goodies. The past few years I have attended a Dodger game every month, including pre and post season, with my boyfriend Jeff. It is a highlight to our week when we know we are going to end up at Dodgers Stadium eating a Dodger Dog, catching a glimpse of Tommy Lasorda, and singing to Nancy Bea’s organ playing during the game.

Everything is Dodger in this place.

A pale granite-and-blonde wood bar stretches out along the opposite wall and once again, there’s a nice mix of booths and more traditional tables. Instead of a guest book, guests were encouraged to sign a baseball bat…

Grand Entrance into the Stadium Club for their first dance as husband and wife.

The bride is so fantastic. She loves photography and has a great website. I was so delighted when she wanted a photo together.

Thank you to Bobby and Brenda for their beautiful day. It was truly one I will never forget and Dodger Stadium holds a little more romance and magic for me.

The enegry level was high, but not like Open Day April 10, 1962 at Dodgers Stadium. The Stadium Level buzzed with chatter from all the old friends, and new networking buddies exchanging wedding stories, and business cards. You could feel the excitement of us wedding folk looking out on to the field and seeing the bright green grass and the beautiful mountains capes that surround the one and only Chavez Ravine.

Bubbling with ideas and chatter the room settled into thanks and appreciation for the committees that put the event together. Each Showcase vendor got to do a 30 second pitch about their business and how it relates to weddings/events.

Then there was a raffle with fabulous prizes like a nights stay and luxurious locations, and goodies.

With a thanks the room wrapped with a tour of Dodgers Stadium to see all the inner workings. Treated like MVP (Most Valuable Photographer), I was truly honored to be a small part of this happy event.
