Holly Steen was born and raised in the Santa Clarita Valley where, at an early age she was exposed to fine art, and paintings from her mother, a painter. Surrounded by fine painting and sculptures, Holly put into theory her love of textures, colors and redefining light. She would ask to go to the library and stare at books with surreal storytellers, like Salvador Dali, or romantic textures, like Monet. Her beginnings to understand story telling within imagery and how to portray emotions with a subtle change of color. Even as a child Holly would explore her interest of photography and pour through the family albums and heirlooms of black and white photography.
“I loved looking through the old photographs and experiencing the world and story through their eyes. Each time I flipped a page in an old album, the image would tell a story of emotion ranging from love to hardship.” Holly says, “I knew that I wasn’t just looking at photos, but I was looking at moments of time captured for memories.”
Holly’s love for fine art, and photography evolved into a career of telling her own stories with her camera. She was able to tell other people’s love stories with a click, and work with amazing couples all over the United States. In recent times, she has worked with amazing photographers she admired, and studied from incredible mentors. Some of her most recent weddings have been featured on wedding blogs, and websites such as the front page of Wedding Chicks, Bridal Bar, L.A. Style Unveiled, Rock ‘n Roll Bride, So You’re Engayed, and many more. She had been published in several publications throughout California and beyond.
Holly currently lives with her boyfriend of four years and cat in Glendale, California. In her spare time she enjoys attending Dodgers games, running and cycling around the California coastline. Currently, she is training for a marathon to work off the slices of wedding cake she oh so enjoys.
